A therapeutic effect is a consequence of a medical treatment of any kind, the results of which are judged to be desirable and beneficial. This is true whether the result was expected, unexpected, or even an unintended consequence of the treatment. An adverse effect, on the other hand, is a harmful and undesired effect.

What constitutes a therapeutic effect versus a side effect is a matter of both the nature of the situation in which a treatment is used and the goals of treatment. There is no inherent difference between therapeutic and undesired side effects; both responses are behavioral/physiologic changes which occur as a response to the treatment strategy or agent. However, those changes which are viewed as desirable, given the situation, are called therapeutic; those undesirable for the situation are viewed as unfavorable.

Artistic representation of placebo or of the placebo effect?
Q. I gotta analyze the placebo effect from 3 points of view : philosophical/psychologic al, scientific and artistic. A placebo is mainly a substance or procedure a patient accepts as medicine or therapy, but which has no objectively verifiable therapeutic activity. Any therapeutic effect is thought to be based on the power of suggestion. Do you know any possible artistic representation of the subject?

A. a tired worn skeleton that's sitting at a table. he's got a grin? or his chin in hand contemplating the rose water or rose wine. the oxy cotin or a tums, the LSD or a piece of a shredded envelope pane. alas, he's still dead so he eats them all! the effect turns 360* he is the placebo for our experiments! don't forget to put the researchers taking notes. if you do use this put a hidden 'KAB' in there for me plz. Thanks and plz do keep me posted, love to see your finale ! Good luck!

if you use a generic type of drug but it didn't take effect if you switch to its brand name will it?
Q. if you use a drugs generic name but it didn't take effect, and you want to try a drug with the same kind but using its brand name, will it be effective or the microorganisms is resistant to taht particular drug? anyway is brand name and generic name of drugs the same regarding its therapeutic effect? which is more effective?

A. Depends on the drug. Generics are almost exactly the same as brands in many cases, but in SOME you may react differently due to different delivery systems, buffers, etc. For example, I cannot take generic minocycline (acne medicine) because I developed ulcers and always got nauseous when I took them, but I had no problem with the branded formulations (which worked MUCH better as well) and as a plus, I could take it with milk (which you're not supposed to do with generic). And non-pill drugs -- for example, prescription lotions or creams for or scars, burns, or discoloration are often more effective as brands and have fewer side effects (they may go on better and not be sticky, not dry out the skin or cause peeling and redness or not smell… [cont.]
