I too have allergy problems BUT I have also worked in public safety and know some of the problems faced by law enforcement with this. People buying this stuff and cooking meth is happening everywhere. The by-products are dumped and can cause serious health problems. Like leaking into the soil and then into streams and wells. Although the reduction of pseudoephedrine will result in the manufacture of methamphetamine, it is usually achieved by hydrogenation of the hydroxyl group on the pseudoephedrine molecule. Q. I have pretty bad allergies, and pseudoephedrine seems to be a lot more effective for me than phenylephrine. I go through like two boxes of 48 capsules in a month, which is within the legal limit (I think the limit is 7.5 grams of pseudo per month per individual, which would equate to about 250 capsules). So my question is: does the DEA ever launch investigations or anything like that against people for buying regular amounts of pseudo, even if they're within the legal limit? Just last week, she got a letter saying she had a warrant for pharmacy pseudoephedrine sales restriction. She went to get rid of the warrant and she had bought 4 too many pills and had gone over the legal amount in January. She now has court in one month and where we live it has a max. of 350 dollar fine and 1 year in jail. Thats pretty scary when all she was doing is taking allergy medicine.
