An effective dose in pharmacology is the amount of drug that produces a therapeutic response in 50% of the people taking it, sometimes also called ED-50. In radiation protection it is an estimate of the stochastic effect that a non-uniform radiation dose has on a human. PharmacologyIn pharmacology, effective dose is the median dose that produces the desired effect of a drug. The effective dose is often determined based on analysing the dose-response relationship specific to the drug. The dosage that produces a desired effect in half the test population is referred to as the ED-50, for "Effective dose, 50%". From Wikipedia under the

Absolutely not!, I don't know where your mother got this information but anyone who is between grade school ages up to 27 years old sexually active or not should receive that vaccine. Because HPV is very communicable with out even knowing if someone has it. The vaccine is effective even after you have had sex. The only the vaccine can do is that it can not cure you if you have one of the forms of HPV that it protected you from. Say you have HPV 18 (this is one of the ones that the vaccine covers) if you get the Guardsil shot it will protect you from the other 3 but it will not take away the one you already have. The vaccine prevents 4 types of the most common and popular HPV.2 are commonly STD and the other 2 cause cancer.Though all HPV… [cont.] Answered by Ashley S - Fri Jan 9 16:07:08 2009 How effective are Omega Fish Oil pills? Q. I've got a pretty serious ear infection. The GP prescribed these antibiotics, but it hasn't improved. I'm meant to see the ENT specialist, but he's fully booked till Saturday. Is their any benefit or risk to doubling the antibiotic dosage? Asked by corpuscollossus - Wed Jul 26 03:50:23 2006 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. If you have not responded to the antibiotics that you are on at the present time it is either that the bacteria you have is resistant to the antibiotics or it is not a bacteria infection but maybe a viral infection which antibiotics will have no effect on. Antibiotics should begin to knock out the infection within 24 hours and you should at least begin to feel some better. Doubling the dosage will not help. I would let your doctor know that you are not improving. Answered by Modmom - Wed Jul 26 04:00:12 2006 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Effective dose" |
