An effective dose in pharmacology is the amount of drug that produces a therapeutic response in 50% of the people taking it, sometimes also called ED-50. In radiation protection it is an estimate of the stochastic effect that a non-uniform radiation dose has on a human. It is measure of potency of the drug. PharmacologyIn pharmacology, effective dose is the median dose that produces the desired effect of a drug. The effective dose is often determined based on analysing the dose-response relationship specific to the drug. The dosage that produces a desired effect in half the test population is referred to as the ED-50, for "Effective dose, 50%". From Wikipedia under the

Q. This is not a suicide question, so please no christians advising not to do it or no stupid answers, just factual please. This is a research question. So once again, if you have nothing factual to answer don't bother. Thanks in advance. Asked by curiousmedic - Sat Jul 5 05:15:40 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Diazepam has a so-called lethal dose of 700mg or 70 10mg tabs. I'm not sure what the lethal dose of temazepam is, however both drugs are benzodiazepines therefore combining them will not be any more productive than simply taking more temazepam. That said, lethal dose is HIGHLY variable. It is dependant on bodyweight, tolerance, etc. For example, one who has been on temazepam for years could take a ridiculously high dose, then go to sleep, waking up groggy in the morning. It is very difficult to place an accurate lethal dose on either of these drugs other than to say if one ingests several hundred it will be fatal. Is taking a double dose of contraceptive pill as effective as using the morning after pill? Asked by Oscar - Sun Feb 1 11:01:32 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Yes, but not in the way you're asking. Plan B, or the morning after pill, is made from Levonorgestrel. Some birth control pills, like Aviane and Alesse are also made from this. You would take the equivalent of 0.75 mg of Levonorgestrel-estrogen (the amount in one "Plan B" pill), twice in that day, with a 12 hour gap in between. Considering how many pills this would be (Aviane and Alesse contain 0.10 mg of estrogen per pill, so you would be taking a total of 15 pills) it is much safer to take Plan B. Also, complications in the dosage can be dangerous, and if you took too much you could really damage your endocrine system. I have done this in the past, but I do not recommend it. You can buy Plan B over the counter at all pharmacies now -… [cont.] Answered by Leona - Sun Feb 1 11:38:06 2009 Do you know any thesis that determines ED50 (effective dose) of cholesterol lowering agents?
